  The Accessibility Standard for the Executive Branch is still to meet Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Priority Level 2 of the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 , implemented in May of 2002.  The purpose of the rewrite of the Accessibility Standard is to separate it from the 7020 Design Standard and to clarify misperceptions of the Accessibility Standard.

The Kentucky Enterprise Web Design Template (EWDT) is mandated for agencies to use in building new web sites or major revisions to existing web sites that are accessed by the public.  Web applications available to the public and intranet web sites do not have to use the EWDT.

Please use the latest version available when designing new sites.

• Application for Web Server ID - If your Web site pages will reside on the Commonwealth Internet/Web server (www.state.ky.us or ky.gov), you will be charged a monthly fee based on the amount of storage space used for your agency's site, user directories, and dedicated FTP directories.  The storage space will be calculated at a directory level and will include all subdirectories below this level (unless lower levels are billed to another COT Billing Number).  You can check the Service Rates for Customers.

• W3C HTML Validation Service - A free service that checks documents like HTML and XHTML for conformance to W3C recommendations
• W3C CSS Validation Service - A free service that checks your Cascading Style Sheets for conformance to W3C recommendations

• Enterprise Keywords Report - If you are using the EWDT, then you can see what terms and phrases your users are searching.  You can restrict by agency, url and date.

• MetaData Generator - This tool is designed to create metadata for Commonwealth of Kentucky webmasters.  Through the use of effective metadata, your page will be better classified and therefore easier to find.

• Kentucky.gov Portal Information - The COT Web Development Group has assembled several documents relating to the new Kentucky.gov portal.  These documents include information concerning the Calendar Users Guide, Calendar Authorization Request, Kentucky.gov Google FAQ, and Kentucky.gov Google Search Code Changes.

• Custom "404 - Page Not Found" error page - A custom error page has been created for the common "404 - Page Not Found" error.  This gives users some possible explanations for what has happened, and provides various options on what to do next.  Feel free to use the file as you see fit.
